The Car Fax indicates this car was listed as “salvaged” in 1999 and during that same year the car was restored to its original glory to Porsche Factory Spec’s and was issued a Rebuilt Title in Illinois. I believe that this car is a survivor. In other words, "salvaged" cars don't (and won't) mean very much at all. Yes, there may be some additional considerations regarding registration in some places, but the state of AZ issued me a clear title. This car is a good/great example of a Porsche 993. The recent maintenance records along with a PPI on this cared for car (ownership, not flip) is more important than a "sordid" history (which can add character, in my opinion). When I took possession of the car, I took it to Porsche of Tucson for a bumper to bumper inspection and they could not find any evidence of any damage to the car at any time. The car has had a repaint but is in excellent condition and shows well. The leather interior is also in excellent condition with no tears in the upholstery. The convertible top is in excellent condition with a small tear (see photo) which I had sealed and has not been an issue. The power top is currently not working and has been converted to a manual top. In my research of issues with the power tops on the Rennlist Forum, I found that most owners of the 993 had converted theirs to a manual top also. The naturally aspirated 3.6L 6-cylinder engine produces 272 hp, a 6 speed manual transmission, with power seats, power windows, the Turbo Twist rims are powder coated with yellow accents, cruise control and much more. The engine purrs, clutch and transmission operates very smooth. Has NO leaks (engine bay and undercarriage is spotless). No Check engine light, and A/C blows cold. The suspension has been upgraded by the previous owner and is very tight (there is no body twist in the fine example of Porsche engineering). The tires are like new (have only a few thousand miles on them). This car has been maintenance free and a joy to drive in town or highway. The radio system has been upgraded by PO and sounds great. Car comes with two (2), yes two key fobs. Don't let this one get away from you as the 993 is one of the last series of air cooled cars Porsche built and the value keeps going up.
